Matthew is originally from St. Simons Island, GA, where strangers marveled at his lack of a southern accent, probably due to his love of theater at an early age, when he cut his teeth on such hallowed roles as The King of Hearts and Peter Pan. Since those early, halcyon days, Matthew has earned a BA in Theater from Rollins College, an MFA in Acting from Brandeis University, and teaches at The Acting Studio-New York and T. Schreiber Studios. Film work includes the feature The Weekend, distributed by Warner Bros, and other shorts and commercial work and animated voice over. Matthew has also performed with various New York theaters including La MaMa, E.T.C. and regionally at The New Repertory Theatre and Colorado Shakespeare Festival, among others. In addition to acting, Matthew has directed and produced, and co-founded Zootopia Theatre Company , which focused on producing new works.
